The term Hennessy x.o was coined for this very Cognac by Maurice Hennessy in the 19th century, and it was first bottled in 1870 for family and friends. This blend is composed of over 100 Eaux-de-vie from the Grande and Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois regions. A rich, spicy, complex, and truly historical Cognac, destined to be had alongside a cigar.
Hennessy XO Cognac Tasting Notes
- Nose: A rich, fruity palate with prunes, Corinth raisins, and sticky toffee pudding.
- Palate: Dark chocolate and over-ripe plums. A little sultana character, cocoa butter, and spice.
- Finish: Spicy, vanilla-led finish with all kinds of dark fruits.
The dynastic Hennessy x.o family has been dominating the Cognac industry for two and a half centuries. In 1765, Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer serving in Louis XV’s army, set out to create the world’s finest cognac. The refined and highly popularized elixir became a thriving export business, shipping as far as Ireland, Britain, and all throughout Europe.
